"Assisting with Instructional Strategies" training

For this project, I closely followed the Morrison and Kemp model in alignment with the ADDIE framework in order to create a half-day training for Instructional Assistants to learn three instructional strategies to increase student engagement. It was a time consuming project that spanned 4 months, but it was rewarding getting to apply what I was learning in my classes and seeing a final product.

This project challenged me to think deeply about each part of the instructional design process, and while I found some parts easier than others due to my previous teaching experience, it was difficult in the beginning to create a training without having understanding of the design process in its entirety. At the start of the project I had a basic understanding of the requirements in each part of the Morrison and Kemp Model, but I did not know just how much detail is required to fully complete each portion. This project showed me that as well as the importance of time and project management since each portion of the project is very time consuming and relies on multiple people to successfully create the instructional plan.
